What does fire integrated mean for a rolling shutter?
This type is a motorised rolling shutter linked to the building's alarm system, so it closes, or clears an escape path, once the alarm sounds. A fire rated shutter is a different product, tested to hold back flames for a set time. Some openings need one, the other or both. Confirm the requirement with the building owner and the relevant authority, then ask us for a site visit.
How does a shutter connect to the fire alarm panel?
The alarm panel offers a dry relay contact, which the shutter's control unit reads before moving the curtain to the position it takes in an emergency. Most setups also include a manual release and battery or UPS backup. At handover we trigger a real alarm to prove the link and record what happened, which suits tower and warehouse projects in Dubai.
