Can a faulty gate be made secure until the spare part arrives?

Yes. A technician can usually switch the motor to manual release, lock the gate in the closed position with a bolt or chain, or fit a temporary latch, so the property stays secure while the spare part is ordered. The gate then works by hand until it is repaired.

Do not leave a gate half open or tied with wire, and keep children away from the moving leaf. If the fault is a damaged board or a broken arm, the motor should stay isolated from power. Tell the team what the gate is doing so the right part is brought.
