What we did

Mount Everest Automatic Doors completed a rolling shutter installation in Fujairah, UAE. Rolling shutters are a practical choice for garages and storerooms where a door has to be secure, compact and simple to operate. The photo shows a cream-coloured shutter fitted in a deep opening of a sand-coloured rendered wall. A technician stands at the right side of the door, working on the edge of the guide. On the ground are an electric drill, a sealant gun and tubes, a hammer, masking tape and cardboard used to protect the floor, which shows the installation was being completed at the time. A rolling shutter is built around a barrel at the top of the opening that winds the slats up and releases them down between two side guides. Because the whole door depends on that barrel turning smoothly, maintenance usually starts at the top: the barrel ends, the brackets, the springs or motor drive, and the way the slats feed into the guides. Typical maintenance on a rolling shutter includes cleaning dust and sand from the guides, checking the slats for bent edges, lubricating moving parts, checking the fixings and looking at the lock and the manual override. In the UAE climate, fine dust and heat wear these parts faster than many owners expect, so a regular check is cheaper than waiting for a jam. Safety matters on every shutter job. The door should be isolated from power before anyone works on the barrel, and the opening should be kept clear while the slats and guides are being handled. After the work, the door is cycled several times to confirm it travels the full height and stops where it should. Good access is part of the job. Shutters in tall bays often need ladders or a lifting platform so the team can reach the barrel and drive safely. Our team at Mount Everest Automatic Doors plans the access method first, then works through the shutter from the top down and tests the door before leaving.
