Can garden sprinklers or rain damage a gate motor?

Gate motors are built for outdoor use, but water that sprays directly on the unit, floods the motor pit or runs into the control box can still cause faults. Sprinklers aimed at the gate are a common cause of corrosion, random stops and burnt boards in Dubai villas.

Redirect sprinkler heads away from the motor and photocells, make sure the pit of an in-ground motor drains, and keep the control box lid closed and sealed. Check the cable entries for gaps. After heavy rain, test the gate before relying on it.
